Montti points out that this release gives users much more design flexibility. Site owners can now customize mobile navigation overlays with blocks and patterns. New responsive editing controls let you show or hide content based on device type, without needing custom code. More layout and typography controls also make visual design easier in the editor.

Security is also improved. WordPress 7.0 no longer includes the Administrator and Editor roles in the default user registration settings, helping prevent new users from accidentally gaining high-level permissions.
WordPress had planned for version 7.0 to be a big milestone by adding Real-Time Collaboration, but that feature was delayed because of technical issues.
